Founded in 1987 through the merger of Peat Marwick International and Klynveld Main Goerdeler, KPMG has grown into one of the Big Four accounting firms, alongside Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and Ernst & Young (EY).

Headquartered in Amstelveen, Netherlands, KPMG operates in over 146 countries and territories, with a vast network of member firms. It boasts a workforce of over 220,000 professionals, who are dedicated to delivering quality services and assisting clients in achieving their business goals.

KPMG’s primary service lines include:

The firm actively supports education, community development, environmental sustainability, and diversity and inclusion programs. KPMG’s commitment to social responsibility reflects its broader vision of making a positive impact on the communities it serves.

However, like other major professional services firms, KPMG has faced scrutiny and challenges. The accounting industry’s regulatory environment demands continuous vigilance and compliance with stringent standards to maintain public trust. To address these challenges and continue providing exceptional services, KPMG invests heavily in professional development and training programs for its employees. The firm fosters a culture of learning and encourages its professionals to stay updated with industry trends, technical knowledge, and regulatory changes.

In conclusion, KPMG stands as a prominent player in the professional services industry, offering a wide range of audit, tax, and advisory services to clients worldwide. As the business landscape continues to evolve, KPMG remains dedicated to empowering its clients to thrive in an ever-changing world.

About KPMG Capture The Flag

Capture the Flag (CTF) is a cybersecurity competition designed to challenge participants’ technical skills and critical thinking in solving real-world security challenges. The event will be conducted virtually, allowing students from all corners of India to participate and showcase their talent. Registered participants will receive detailed information about the event via their registered email addresses, ensuring smooth communication and coordination.

Participants will compete individually in this Hackathon; it is not a team-based event. This approach encourages individual creativity and resourcefulness in tackling cybersecurity challenges, which closely resembles real-world scenarios where professionals often need to work autonomously.

Upon registration, each participant will receive a unique login to the CTF platform. The platform will be closely monitored by administrators who will be readily available to provide support if needed. This ensures a seamless experience for all participants, with prompt assistance available whenever required.

The challenges in the Hackathon will be thoughtfully curated and categorized into different domains of cybersecurity. This includes:

  1. Web Application Security: Participants will face challenges related to identifying and fixing vulnerabilities in web applications, such as SQL injection, Cross-Site Scripting (XSS), and more.
  2. Cloud Security: Challenges in this category will revolve around securing cloud infrastructure and identifying potential misconfigurations and vulnerabilities in cloud environments.
  3. Infrastructure Security: This category will test participants’ skills in detecting and mitigating security threats to network infrastructure and systems.
  4. Reverse Engineering: Participants will delve into reverse engineering challenges, where they will analyze and understand the workings of provided binaries or code snippets to uncover potential security flaws.
  5. OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence): OSINT challenges will assess participants’ ability to gather and analyze information from publicly available sources to identify potential security risks.
  6. Cryptography: Participants will be presented with cryptographic puzzles and ciphers, where they must leverage their understanding of cryptographic principles to decipher hidden messages.

It is important to note that completion of all challenges is not mandatory, but strongly encouraged. Participating students are encouraged to attempt challenges from all categories to enhance their learning experience and gain exposure to different aspects of cybersecurity.

At the conclusion of the Capture the Flag Hackathon, all participants will receive a certificate of participation. The certificate will be based on participants’ engagement in the event and the number of challenges attempted. This recognition will serve as a valuable addition to their academic and professional portfolios, highlighting their dedication to cybersecurity and problem-solving prowess.

Through this cybersecurity initiative, KPMG aims to promote a culture of continuous learning and skill development in the field of cybersecurity. We firmly believe that initiatives like these play a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals, equipping them with the knowledge and expertise needed to safeguard organizations and individuals from evolving cyber threats.
