Mastercard’s public listing occurred in 2006, transforming it into a publicly traded entity with over 25,000 affiliated financial institutions issuing its branded cards. At its core, Mastercard facilitates payments between merchants and card-issuing banks or credit unions, catering to transactions involving debit, credit, and prepaid Mastercard-branded cards across the globe.
Operating across 210 countries and territories, Mastercard remains a key player in the global payment landscape, serving billions of users daily.
