Recently, it has been announced by Honeywell that they established research on emerging indoor air quality technologies in partnership with Syracuse University to fund research. The Honeywell Indoor Air Quality Laboratory at Syracuse University’ will be used by researchers to help create healthier environments.
To a healthy building, air quality is necessary. The air quality can impact the health & productivity of residents, and also affect the energy efficiency and the value of the building. The presence of pollutants in the environment may cause harm to the quality of air. When the Indoor Air Quality is poor, the residents can experience productivity as well as health drops such as asthma. The indoor concentration of pollutants can be two to five times higher than outdoor.

To solve the various research objectives the Honeywell Indoor Air Quality Lab at the Syracuse University will be used and determine the impact of air quality on human health, creativity, and productivity. The Professors will use the Honeywell lab to conduct comparisons of further generation indoor air quality for the improvement of technologies and advancement of buildings. This research of Honeywell and Syracuse University will include characterizing & evaluating IAQ sensors.
The Honeywell Indoor Air Quality research will also create the ML & AI algorithms for the management of dynamic ventilation. The purpose of these algorithms is to find new ventilation strategies that comply with ASHRAE 62.1 Indoor Air Quality standards, which will enhanced energy savings.
